This cake features a buttery base that is soaked in a warm salted caramel sauce, resulting in a moist and flavorful dessert. The recipe takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes from start to finish and serves 10 people.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup salted caramel sauce, plus more for drizzling
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  5. Bake the Cake: Pour half of the batter into the prepared bundt pan. Drizzle half of the salted caramel sauce over the batter, then top with the remaining batter. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Prepare the Topping: While the cake is baking, prepare the salted caramel sauce if not using store-bought. Once the cake is done, let it cool for 10 minutes in the pan before inverting onto a serving plate.
  7. Soak the Cake: Poke holes in the top of the cake with a skewer and pour the remaining salted caramel sauce over the warm cake. Allow it to soak in.
  8. Serve: Drizzle with additional salted caramel sauce and sprinkle with sea salt before slicing and serving.
